The Cult of Mithras was a thriving religion in the Roman Empire. But by the 5th century….it was gone. What do we know about the Cult of Mithras? And what was its relationship with Christianity?

I’ve always found the Zeitgeist parallels far too tidy to be taken seriously. Thanks for setting the record straight, and for the overall great work!

The cult never disappeared. It is today’s Christianity with all the pagan trappings.

Mithras is Alchemy. By slaying the bull, we are slaying our former animal selves. Mithras’ cape is painted with stars underneath it. The higher self. Once you open your eyes to polarity, you see it everywhere.

Christianity began in Judea, not Rome. Paul established Christian churches in Rome, Greece, and other locations in Asia Minor. I still enjoy your videos. Keep it up!

Yes it changed in its Roman form. But we don’t know that much of the mysteries. Regardless it is so like western scholars to just be like oh well it’s got nothing to do with Persians or Persian thought and belief. So stupid. We don’t pretend like Christianity isn’t born from Judaism, it is still a Persian belief and thought system that Romans took and made their own, so the Romans did worship a Persian God, albeit in their own way , it was not a unique Roman worship it was one borrowed from Persia. Get over it the west borrowed so much from the east. It doesn’t hurt you to accept that.

I didn’t care for the video much as a historian of region. I can point out alot he missed and got wrong. example 1. mixing Mithraism and Mary. Mithras was a Egyptian religion. and the Romans looked up to Egyptian culture. even narrowing from it. as I have stated that. Isis was a Egyptian goddess. who the Catholic church fashion Mary around . borrowing from ISIS. matraism was a roman military religion and was little known because it was underground and roman soldiers mainly participated.there’s as proves in south Britain show the Christians also served in the army. showing how it would’ve been easy to marry the 2 religions . its called mystery religions because it held secret beliefs and excess only to the elites. your ability to participate in the higher order of the cult. was based on you wealth in connection to your social status. as we

I’d really love to hear about how religious studies scholars determine which belief systems are termed cults and which are religions. Can you do something like this, please?

It would be possible to make a video about Paul in Rome? Which historical evidences exists of Paul’s presence in Rome simultaneously with Peter or even alone?

I’m not religious in the slightest, but I do love these videos. I like approaching religion as a academic pursuit. There’s some fascinating stuff to learn. And it definitely informs history. Thanks for the hard work!

Your argument is based on the weak assumption that absence of evidence equals evidence of non existence. Most religionists destroy evidence, tear down images, burn books and libraries….. It would be surprising if chrisstians didnt destroy documenting evidence of botrowing.

Your miss the metaphorical point entirely. God’s are characters to help you understand how to get in touch with your own divinity. Which is called the Sun or Sol and it is inside your head, in the dark. That place is virginal and the body is the stone that weighs us down. Since the sun is inside in metaphor, it’s to say Mithras is the one giving you the inspiration, he has 12 disciples called the zodiac. All of Jesus’ disciples are of the similar but made mundane versions of this. It doesn’t matter if either existed, they were both kept this long in history because they both shed light into how YOU Mr. Jesus keep putting yourself up on that cross by your foolish words and actions. God is found through reflection, then you get the Sun and Are the Son/Sun, which is locked up in that cave of a mind inside a rock body to actually have something worthwhile to say. More so than conjecture. You need about 20 years hard core study like it is your breath to ever begin to talk about gods or think you picked one to serve. It becomes more clear after every video even from the scholars that either they are telling the real truth or they don’t have a clue. IT IS A SYMBOL OR PARABLE TEACHING YOU HOW TO GROW UP INSIDE! By letting the world fall away and pursuing divinity. God can’t help you, he helps those helping themselves……to esoteric knowledge. But one must be universal in thought and of no prejudices or choices in who to join. God’s always been here, everyone’s blind and dumb if he doesn’t share it with you. Church is a matter of manipulation, every single one. The word church itself is derived from Circe (hypnotism). Only their knowledge is worthwhile to know, like subjects in school. You don t go join a math cult. The only never written clearly is the truth you seek. It can only be found in thought, coupled with that secret sun shining in on you. 😉 Those who know haven’t made a youtube video yet.
